Not Just for Kids
Missing Middle_ Office Design
Site 3 Co Laboratory
September 2020 - December 2020
283 Harbord St, Toronto, ON.
Not Just for Kids is a space inspired by the explorative, carefree atmosphere of a primary school. It is driven by an iterative and practice focused approach to creating, upheld by a foundation rooted in learning through displayed work and teaching through collaboration. Not Just for Kids, where adults can make mistakes surrounded by a community of peers also seeking a playful retreat from everyday structure.
“What does a playful space look like?” Every example I could think of had one shared theme. Colour! Using the Site 3 brand colours of indigo/teal and orange as a jumping off point I created a complementary pallet where each of the 4 additional colours represents one of the not-for-profit’s 4 pillars.
This colourful pallet is present in the space through the installation of the contemporary stained glass enclosures that surround the main stairwell, the roof access and the south east corner of the proposed building volume. By leaving the main floor of the space neutral the coloured glass is able to cast a rainbow of shadows onto a blank canvas changing the atmosphere within the workshop throughout the day.
This colour grid is carried into the basement workshop space in the form of colour blocked zones and helps define different areas and their relation to one of many the Site 3’s 4 pillars Create, Teach, Display, and Inspire.

Ugly Beautiful
Office Design X Bully Boy Lingerie
January 2021 - April 2021
238 Queen St W, Toronto, On
An organic, body positive space for Toronto based lingerie company Bully Boy.
A brand centred around empowering and embracing the female form in all shades, shapes and sizes requires a space that celebrates this come as you are beauty mentality. Ugly Beautiful capitalizes on the provocative nature of the human body through exploring a pallet of nudes in a variety of textures and finishes. The space aims to exploit the more grotesque and faux-pas side of sexuality by playing with transparency.
